Planning a solo Talebound run
Learn the solo recovery loop: manage non-regenerating Health and Focus, use Barrier between fights, spend persistent resources and claim Nib’s chest.

Manage the resources that do not come back by themselves
Health and Focus have no ordinary passive refill in the documented rules. Energy regenerates quickly, and Barrier returns after combat. A solo player therefore needs to distinguish being low on a temporary combat resource from having lost a pool that needs a potion, orb or specific effect to recover.
A solo attempt’s pressure points
| Situation | Relevant system |
|---|---|
| Low Health after a fight | Use healing consumables or golden Vitality Orbs; a returning Barrier is not a full heal |
| Low Focus | Use the recovery sources your run or Arcanist options provide |
| No useful control on a dangerous enemy | Check silver/gold markers and Control Immune before spending another stun |
| Repeated Evades leave few attacks available | Evade pauses Energy regeneration briefly |
| No remaining life | Greywake’s Journal can activate; no teammate is available for proximity rescue |
A class choice is a toolkit choice
Slayer has close-range shotgun pressure and a backward leap with mines. Inquisitor includes a moving slow and empowered casts. Witch combines summons with moving raven casts and a feline state. These are concrete differences to compare against your preferred controls; the published preview does not establish a measured easiest-class ranking.
Turn a completed attempt into another upgrade
- Return to Quillgrave and find Nib’s chest in the town square.
- Inspect the resources earned rather than looking for regular gear drops from every defeated enemy.
- Spend Outfitter Supplies on character attributes, Tales of Valor on class improvements, Alkahest on consumables, or Lost Relics on curiosities.
- Open the Book of Shadows again to choose the next tale and difficulty.
Temporary power is meant to reset
Augmentations selected while leveling belong to the current attempt. The village’s persistent improvements are the longer progression loop. Losing a temporary run setup does not mean the game has erased the upgrades you bought in Quillgrave.
