The Arcanist handles consumable progression
Lilywhistle Bottledrop is the specialist for potions and scrolls. Her resource is Alkahest. The inspected PTR tooltip says drinking a potion or reading a scroll grants Alkahest, which connects consumable use during tales to later improvements in the village.
The documented improvement families
| Family | Examples |
|---|---|
| Recovery | Health healing, Energy replenishment and Focus-related effects |
| Protection | Reduced incoming damage, additional block and temporary immunity effects |
| Offense | Power, critical chance, critical damage and leech-related benefits |
| Identification | Learning additional potion and scroll formulas |
| Vitality Orbs | Adding benefits to the golden short-lived orbs that initially heal |
Identification and potency solve different problems
A formula expands what you can identify among the consumables found in a tale. A potency improvement changes the effect of a consumable. Those are useful distinctions when an inventory item is unidentified or a familiar potion no longer solves the resource problem you are facing.
The report describes 36 upgrade opportunities in the Arcanist preview. It does not provide a reliable universal rank cost or every formula’s final duration. The table above therefore describes effect families rather than filling in unsupported numerical tooltips.
Why this service matters for all three classes
Health and Focus do not ordinarily refill passively. Energy does, but Evade briefly pauses its regeneration. Consumables can address these different shortages. A Health potion is not automatically a Focus potion, and the Barrier returning after a fight is not evidence that all consumables became unnecessary.
