Your first-run checklist
A concrete route through your first Talebound setup: prologue class selection, action binds, village resources, story selection and reward collection.

Before leaving the opening area
- Customize the separate Talebound character; choose the archetype during the prologue.
- Bind Evade where you can reach it while moving. It can cancel another action immediately.
- Find Guard, Sprint and double jump. Space is the reported default for the second jump.
- Decide whether to keep the default press-and-hold repeat casting behavior in Options.
Recognize these four indicators
| Indicator | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Lightning-bolt resource marker | The action uses quickly regenerating Energy |
| Blue pip | 10 Focus, a resource without ordinary passive regeneration |
| Yellow enemy cast bar | An unprotected cast that damage can interrupt |
| Silver or gold dragon marker | Different control immunities; gold enemies ignore stagger and stun |
When Quillgrave becomes available
- Visit the Outfitter, Arcanist, Scribe and Antiquarian so each resource has a known destination.
- The PTR report found free supplies around the village, including elevated or underwater spots; exact pickup availability can vary by build.
- Go beyond the library and up the stairs toward the cave to reach the Book of Shadows.
- Choose your difficulty and an available story. The October demo’s three playable tales were Darkhaven, Greenthistle Wood and Greywake’s Expedition.
After the attempt
- Find the chest next to Nib in the town square and claim the reward resources.
- Use each resource with its matching specialist; keep cosmetic Bound Silver separate from combat upgrades.
- Expect run-level augmentations to reset when the attempt ends. Village upgrades form the persistent layer.
